1. Exercise. Yes, exercise does help us stay fit, but another amazing benefit of exercising is that it helps to reduce the stress hormone cortisol. This is the "fight or flight" hormone that creates a lot of dangerous stress in our bodies, and can be brought on by a busy schedule. Taking a short 20-30 minute walk or bike ride or a 60-min early morning yoga class can help your body reduce this hormone and increase your "happy" endorphins. You'll thank yourself later when you confidently & calmly ace that last final!
2. Sleep. We all know sleep is tough during finals, graduation, and all of the celebratory parties along the way. Lack of sleep is almost a given during this time, but it doesn't have to be! Sleep helps your ability to learn and retain information, your concentration, and your overall mood. Try to aim for at least 7 hours of sleep per night, but if this is impossible for you, a quick 20-45 minute power nap can be almost as beneficial!
3. Take time for yourself. It's easy to get so caught up in the to-dos you have for finals and graduation weekend. On top of that, your family is in town, you have a ton of parties to attend, & the ceremony itself! It's important to take time for yourself and step away from all of your responsibilities, even if it's just for 30 minutes. A great way to do this is to stop by an Aspen Tan salon! A quick 20 minute Vitamin-D boost will not only give you some well-deserved, quiet, "me" time, but Vitamin D is proven to help calm nerves!
