Five Ways to Stick With Your New Year’s Resolution (Even if You’ve Strayed a Little!)

While February is just a few weeks away, that doesn’t mean you have to abandon all your hard work towards a healthy 2016. Even if you’ve missed a few days at the gym or had a few too many cheat meals you can always start fresh and change your lifestyle to match the where you want to be this Summer, or even this Spring Break! Here are four ways we suggest to making this year your best yet.

1. Write Your Resolutions Down

Even if you’ve missed a few days the best way to stick to your health goals is to hold yourself accountable. If you write them in your planner, as a reminder in your phone, or even just as a post-it note when you’re getting ready in the morning you will be much more likely to maintain your goals. Creating benchmark promises are also a great way of keeping your resolution. If your resolution is to lose 15 pounds this year, that’s a pretty long about of time, but if you promise you can have a your favorite meal at Cheesecake Factory when you lose 5 pounds, or you want to lose 15 pounds in 3 months, these short term goals help create your new, and healthy lifestyle.

2. Play with Your Food!

While many people make resolutions about losing weight or eating better, it doesn’t have to be the end of the fun in your life. Everything is ok in moderation, but if you are cutting out dairy products on weekdays check out fun vegan cheese recipes, (there are a lot!) That way it doesn’t seem as if you’re losing out anything, rather that you’re getting the best of both worlds. Truly having your cheese, and eating it too. 3. Change it Up

One of the hardest parts of keeping your resolution (at least for me,) is enjoying working out. While I am always happy after leaving the gym, getting there is usually a different story. Add some new fitness activities to your routine such as going to Beat Cyle, CorePower Yoga, or Orange Theory. These fun additions will help you to enjoy your fitness routine, and get of out of the fitness slump. Kayla Itsines and Blogilates are also fun ways to work out, even when you don’t want to leave you house.

4. Turn your Face to the Sun

It’s even harder to keep your resolutions when its freezing and snowing outside. Many people are unaware of the affects of Seasonal Depression caused by the lack of Vitamin D during the winter months. Nearly 20% of the United States population suffers from a form of seasonal depression according to the National Center for Biotechnology.
